2A — Neurons and Pathways
The brain communicates through neurons, special cells that use electrical and chemical signals to communicate with each other.
Single neuron
Dendrites generally receive incoming signals from other neurons, while the axon carries electrical signals away from the cell body.
Two neurons
As these signals travel between neurons, they form a web of connections that links different parts of the brain and body. When neurons fire together often, the pathways between them become stronger and more efficient.

Networks shape brain communication
Over time, these networks shape how the brain communicates and adapts.
These connections are always active, passing messages, storing experiences, and adjusting as we learn and grow.
